Why Rodney is up for this race:

Experience: Rodney has been a councillor for Penylan since 2017 and previously for the Plasnewydd ward in Roath for 13 years.

He leads the Liberal Democrat Group on Cardiff Council and has led the charge in holding a failing and arrogant Labour administration to account. He has delivered for all the city’s communities, having previously led the council for eight years.

In his day job, he has worked in a senior role influencing Welsh health policy for the past twelve years. That gives him real insight to deliver in this key area that accounts for half of the Welsh Government’s spending.

Vision: Rodney has a track record of standing up for Cardiff and the Vale, and pushing policy ideas that resonate with local communities.

He has a long list of ideas which he believes can make a difference in order to deliver a better Wales.

Through his existing role as a councillor, he has a track record of listening to voters’ concerns and fighting for them to be addressed through attention-grabbing campaigns.

A record of winning: He led our council election campaigns in 2004 and 2008 when we became the largest party on Cardiff Council. He was campaign manager for Jenny Randerson when she first became the AM for Cardiff Central in 1999.

He has delivered a string of local by-election wins across Cardiff and the Vale as agent and campaign manager, including in Cyncoed, Llandough and Plasnewydd.

Helping the party rebuild in recent elections, he has re-established us as the clear challenger to Labour in Cardiff East.
