About Rodney
Rodney has called Cardiff his home for the past 31 years. He lives in Roath with his husband, Nick.
He works for the British Medical Association (BMA) as a senior manager. Directing a team of staff, he negotiates for improved terms and conditions of service for doctors and helps the medical profession to positively influence Welsh Government health policy.
He has helped the BMA secure many policy improvements, such as key changes to strengthen the Public Health (Wales) Act including action on obesity.
He has 21 years’ experience as a Cardiff councillor and was council leader from 2004 to 2012.
Rodney first came to Cardiff to take up a post at the University Hospital of Wales, after gaining a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Glasgow. Later, he worked as a Senior Researcher to the Welsh Liberal Democrat Group in the National Assembly.
Away from work and political campaigning, Rodney is an active member of the Albany Road Run Club. He enjoys travel, cycling, hill-walking and experiencing Cardiff’s arts scene – as well as having a good meal out with family and friends.
